Richard Tan is the founder and CEO of Pacific Millennium Holdings Corporation (PMHC),a group of companies that traces its roots back to 1977.Under Richard’s leadership,Pacific Millennium occupied a major presence in the Global Pulp and Paper Markets,becoming one of the largest pulp and paper distributors in Asia.He initiated joint ventures with International Paper,Smurfit Stone,and Willamette Industries,and in partnerships with them,built ten box plants and one paper mill in Asia.Richard pioneered the Group’s business involvement in such diverse areas as forest plantation business,information technology,funeral services and carbon emission reductions.Pacific Millennium’s business operations are currently centered in China, based on the vision that China's current and future growth potential offer the company, the greatest opportunities for diversification and expansion.
Richard is also the Chief Executive Officer of Stone Tan China Acquisition Corporation (a New York listed company). He also serves as a Board Director of Domtar (a company listed in both Canada and the United States ) and Samling Global Limited (a listed company in Hong Kong ). Besides his business responsibilities, Richard is involved in social and political activities. He is a Member of the China National Political Consultative Committee, a Member of the Anhui Province Political Consultative Committee, a Business Advisor of Chongqing Municipality, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai International Chamber of Commerce, Vice Chairman of the China Chamber for the Promotion of International Trade (Shanghai), and Advisor of the Shanghai Modern Management Center. Richard was also formerly the President of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce – Paper Industries, the former Chairman of the Board of the Millennium Bank in San Francisco, and a Featured Speaker at the Milken Institute Global Economy Conferences in 1998 and 2000.

Richard Tan holds bachelor degrees in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University, in addition to an MBA from the University of Southern California . He has also completed an Executive Program at Stanford University .
Richard Tan can truly be classified as a "Citizen of the World." He is an outspoken advocate for Asian economic growth and development, and is recognized as both a bridge and a driving force for many global joint ventures and cross-cultural pioneering projects. |
